Art contest open to students

Pittsburgh Technical Institute’s (PTI) Visions and Voices Contest opens March 12 at PTI’s campus. The contest includes painting, web design, jewelry, sculpting, drawing, photography, creative film, interactive media, and ceramics. At the opening ceremony, family members and artists are encouraged to make an appearance not only to see the award ceremony, but to see all the other artwork displayed by high school contestants. If interested in sending art work in, visit PTI’s website to sign up; pieces can either be sent in through the mail or dropped off on campus. Last year, 323 high school students from 89 separate schools were featured, including three from Freedom. Every year, 48 winners are honored with awards including Best of Show, Best in Category, and a few honorable mentions. If you’re interested in competing in this year’s Visions and Voices Contest, enter by Feb. 26.
