The bending battery

On April 6, Stanford created one of the fastest-charging aluminum batteries. The scientists located at Stanford claim that the battery can be charged in mere minutes. However, this is no normal battery because it can be bended and flattened and have no damage occur. It can’t be damaged by bending because the aluminum anode, graphite cathode and ionic liquid electrolyte is placed inside a polymer coated pouch, according to the Stanford scientists.

This battery is much safer than the traditional lithium batteries because it doesn’t pose any fire hazard and isn’t very toxic.

For now, the Stanford scientists are still looking to improve and experiment with their new battery. The scientists say according to the low cost of the aluminum and chemicals in the battery, when it does come out, it will be low cost and efficient.

Self-Driving Cars

Will driving tests be for just humans, or are cars in the future too? Recently multiple companies have been focusing on making the first legal self-driving car. There are multiple tests and experiments to run and the cost of the car has not yet been determined.

It has been predicted that the first self-driving car will be out within the next decade.Google has produced the self-driving car that has no steering wheel, but has not yet released it. A few states have already made it a law that cars at least have a steering wheel incase the driver needs to take control of the car.

There are other points to look at the self-driving car. Will DUI’s be relevant in the future? Will this car help the handicapped? Only the future can tell.

Endure Survival Pen

Nolan Brundige and NMB Creations have invented a pen that could double as a life- saving object.

The main focus when they created the pen was to be prepared for the worst case scenario for a person: being lost. Brundige and NMB Creations included ways to start a fire and how to get found. The pen includes 3.5 ft of paracord rope, a flare launcher, a steel clip that could be used to start a fire, a spike at the end and, of course, a pen.

The pen is not yet available, because Nolan Brundige and NMB Creations need donations and funding to start the product. So far only two of the Endure Survival pens have been created, and 10 are planned to be made. The cost of the pen has not yet been released.

Sleep IQ

Parents worry about their kids constantly, especially when they are still young toddlers. Most of the worry comes from their children at night. They wonder if they are out playing with the toys in their bedroom or just out of bed.. The Sleep IQ bed allows parents to know when their kids get up and out of bed by hooking up to an iOS app on your phone and setting off an alarm. It also comes with a night light that can be controlled by the phone as well.

The bed, app and night light all cost $1,000 and is aimed to be released this year.
