Located on the high school roof, the alarm inside the HVAC unit set off a false alarm that notified local fire departments, rather than an actual fire as previously speculated.

‘Twas the first day of break (and the night of the Christmas Dance) and all the students were ready to rest in their beds; that is until the social media world lit up just as much as the Christmas lights outside their homes. Word spread at about 8 o’clock that the high school had caught on fire. Some quickly commented, calling it ‘the best Christmas gift.’ Though that Christmas gift may not have been fully received as it turned it was not a fire nor any smoke. The problem was the HVAC unit’s detector detected something which triggered for the alarm to be sent to local fire stations. Luckily, the fire trucks raced to the school faster than the students who raced to speculation.
