Holding on to H.O.P.E.

The school board meeting on April 11 followed suit with honoring recipients of the H.O.P.E. Award and Student of the Month Award. English teacher Mrs. Andrea Niedbala was honored at the meeting in front of board members, students and parents. Science teacher Mrs. Brandi Burger was also honored at the meetings, although she was not in attendance. After the teachers were honored, winners of the Student of the Month Award were recognized for their resilience. Aside from student and teacher recognition, Mr. Matt Scala presented information to the board and community members on the new security system being installed. The Raptor System will take driver’s licenses to make identification badges for visitors to the building. Scala explained that the scanning of the driver’s license will tell if said person has any history with probation, custody issues or is a registered sex offender. If a driver’s license is not available for scanning, other records will be checked. It was mentioned in the presentation that the system will not only make sure who is entering the building, but it will also keep track of visitors within the building, should an emergency arise.
