Why does (s)he play: Johnston plays because of his overwhelming love of the game. He enjoys being on the field and putting in 100% on every pitch. Who is his/her favorite coach: He says that his favorite coach would have to be Coach Kemerer. He chose him as his favorite because he is the coach that spends the most time working on hitting with him and they have built a “strong relationship over the years.” His/her favorite professional athlete: His favorite professional athlete is Albert Pujols (the power-hitting, first baseman for the Saint Louis Cardinals). Mr. Pujols is his favorite because “he has one of the greatest swings, is a great overall player, takes the time and effort to donate to multiple charities, and is just a good person in general.” His/her favorite memory of high school athletics: Mr. Johnston says that his favorite memory is of his first at bat during his sophomore season, when he hit a homerun on the first pitch he saw.
