The one and only Young’s Custard stand leaves with a lifetime of memories, with empty benches and boarded up windows are all that remain.

For the past 75 years both Napoli’s Pizza and Young’s Custard Stand have served loyal customers to the best of their ability. Ever since their closing, disappointment has spread across Beaver County. Manybuyers quickly stopped by Young’s to get one last cone of ice cream before they closed, and rushed over to Napoli’s to get one, final, delicious Italian dinner before it’s gone for good.

Young’s custard was one of the most prominent small, locally, owned businesses in all of the Pittsburgh area. They have served customers for over seven decades, serving an array of delicious meals such as burgers and of course ice cream. Their food never failed to impress every person that has ever tasted it. Young’s has always been known for its ice cream, as it has always had a variety of flavors to choose from. Young’s was known for their cycle of special custard that consisted of flavors like maple, banana, black raspberry and many more.Napoli’s Italian restaurant, opened in 1976 and has been a hit ever since. Many adults can vouch for the amount of memories they have made there.

“It used to be our favorite spot to hang out after football games, we always had such good times,” One local said.

Even though Napoli’s has closed for good, the memories they’ve all made while there will always be with them.

Businesses nowadays have been impacted a lot with the increase of inflation throughout the country. With the impact of COVID,that happened a couple of years ago, many businesses have struggled to stay afloat. In 2020, all nonessential businesses had to shut down in order to decrease the chance of spreading the virus. This shut down affected both Young’s and Napoli’s for the next couple months. Every nonessential business after the pandemic has struggled to keep up with the inflation. In 2020, the unemployment rate in the United States was 8.05%. Fortunately, the percentage of unemployment this year is now down to 3.61%.. This could possibly be a big reason why many businesses have been forced to close, while bigger companies such as Walmart and Target, could continue to stay open.
