New Year, New You: A Chance to Re-Invent

It’s that wonderful time of year again: time to take down the Christmas decorations, get back into school and start working on those New Year’s resolutions. There’s something about a new year that gives you the motivation you need to make some healthy and positive changes in your life. While some find no use for resolutions, others use them to their advantage to create an opportunity for a better year. “I think New Year’s Resolutions are stupid. No one ever follows through with them,” Freshman Jake Schwab said. While sometimes it is difficult to keep them, it’s always a good idea to try. It’s easy to come up with some simple resolutions to better yourself throughout the year. Some like to improve their health, while others work to improve bad habits. Making a resolution is simple. Just think of things in your life that need to be improved. If you’re bad at staying dedicated to something, try making resolutions simpler. It could be as basic as trying something new or making a promise to spend more time with family. “My resolution is to live more,” Junior Brittany Mavrich said. “Life’s too short.” Coming up with resolutions is easy; it’s the follow through that gets people. Sometimes the motivation from the first of the year doesn’t always stick with us. Most people get too caught up in school, work and home life to remember why they made the resolutions they did. It’s always good to remember that resolutions are usually meant to improve your life in some way. “I want to try to grow and help more people this year,” Junior TJ DiCiero said. With a new year comes a new opportunity to better yourself and your life. It’s never too late to make a resolution, so take advantage of this newly found motivation to improve yourself this year.
