DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES BEGINS ON NOV. 17
Ms. Marcy Bebout will take on the role of the district’s Director of Student Services. She has an extensive background in both education and leadership. On the education side, Ms. Bebout spent fifteen years as a special education teacher at Central Greene School District and worked as the Special Education Director for Hopewell, as well as at the California Area school districts. Her leadership experience includes securing grant funding, directing special education programs, coordinating services with students and families and developing inclusionary practices.
MS. SMITH AWARDED FACULTY MEMBER OF THE MONTH
The Faculty Member of the Month was announced at the faculty meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11. This month’s winner was Ms. Candra Smith. Staff members are nominated by fellow staff members and voted upon at the monthly meeting. The award recognizes faculty for their hard work and dedication to what they do.
STUDENTS OF THE MONTH ANNOUNCED FOR “INITIATIVE”
Each month, eight students are selected by the faculty to receive the Student of the Month award. This month’s theme was “Initiative.” The winners were recognized at the school board meeting on Nov. 13. Recipients were Taylor Delesandro (9), Colin Lefferty (9), Caroline Bender (10), Cooper Brien (10), Kaylee Jones (11), Alec Lockwood (11), Mia Shegog (12) and Caden Beringer (12).
DISTRICT FINDS NEW ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST
Ms. Rebekah “Beckey” Powell has over a decade of experience in administrative support and finance. Before coming to the district, she worked as the Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist at Pine Richland School District, where she handled invoices, athletic accounts and financial reports. Before joining the education field, Ms. Powell built a background in healthcare through several positions at Allegheny Clinic’s Department of Neurosurgery and at the Orthopedic Institute.
VOTERS ELECT NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS
The 2025 school board election was held in early November. There were several candidates on the ballot, including two new ones. Monica Grenegle and Michelle Micija ran for reelection, and two new members, Christian Brenckle and Wesley Sterritt, were elected. Sharon Geibel and Jennifer Hill, previous members of the board, decided to end their terms and not run for reelection.
SCHOOL BOARD COORDINATES FOOD/PRODUCT DRIVE
The school board organized a food and product drive from Nov. 13 to Nov. 22. Members of the community were able to drop off nonperishable foods, paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, laundry detergent, personal hygiene products and other living essentials. The items were collected at office entryway boxes in the elementary, middle and high schools. On the morning of Saturday, Nov. 22, more essential products were collected at the front entrance of the high school.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY TO HOLD HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
The National Honor Society (NHS) announced they were organizing a food drive for the first week of December. The food drive is tied to the annual chorus holiday concert, which will be held Dec. 3. NHS officers ask for nonperishable food donations to be brought to PLT with students. The PLT that donates the most overall will earn a pizza party. Community members interested in donating can drop off items to a student volunteer at the chorus concert. All donations will go to a local food pantry.
