2018 Shawnee yearbook recognized

The Shawnee Yearbook, “Our Place in Time,” was given first place in the American Scholastic Press Association’s annual yearbook review and contest for the 2018 school year. The track and field spreads were also recognized with “Outstanding Sports Photography,” in which the photos were taken by 2018 graduate Morgan Stewart, senior Sam Romutis and junior Cole Skuse.

New teacher arrives in Freedom

On Jan. 10, the school board approved Caitlin Chinchilla as a new third-grade teacher at the school board meeting. Chinchilla’s first day as a teacher was Jan. 21.

Scoreboard donated from Conway Borough

The school board accepted the donation of a scoreboard by the Conway Borough at the board meeting on Jan. 17. The scoreboard will be used for the softball games and an American flag may be posted on the back of the scoreboard since there was not one before.

Students of the month

For the months of November and December, combined, the following students were recognized as Students of the Month. The theme of these two months was “Collaboration”.
