JUNIOR CLASS BEGINS ANNUAL GAME OF ‘ASSASSINS’
Each year, students of the junior class who choose to participate play a game of “Assassins” with water guns. In teams of two, students are assigned targets each week that they must try to eliminate before the next round, or be eliminated themselves. Before the game began, students were briefed the safety regulations and rules by School Resource Officer Rick Jones and Principal Steven Mott. If eliminated, students are given an opportunity to buy back in and grow the prize pot.
MEMBERS OF BULLDOG BUDDIES SPREAD WORD OF INCLUSION
The Bulldog Buddies program spreaded the act of inclusion through many fun activities and games for students. Some activities included answering some trivia questions, signing a banner and working together to raise awareness of the simple acts of inclusion and kindness. This occurred during lunch on March 20, the day before World Down Syndrome Day.
COMMUNICATIONS CLASSES ANNOUNCE ‘SHARK TANK’ WINNERS
In Ms. Courtney Anderson’s Communications class, students worked in groups to develop unique chip products, which were later presented to their classes. Winners from each class presented to a panel of judges. Congratulations to the winners of the final “Shark Tank:” first place was “Carnivore Crunch” by Joshua Schoedel and Skyler Lewarchik; second place was “Wave Pop” by Nicholas Fessler, Michael Frashure and Anthony Tusick; and third place was “World Cravings” by Grayce Stewart and Sophia Figas. The honorable mentions were “Pickle Pounders” by Cayden Parker, Chase Stadnik and Ethan Parsons; “Flavor Feelings” by Charley Bucci and Sydney Taylor; and “Porter Power” by Kendra Conner and Emily Lawrence. The Shark Tank was composed of teachers who judged the top five groups that were chosen by their classes.
STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN CHARLIE CHECK FIRST SAFETY PROGRAM
Students from the senior class traveled to the elementary school for the Charlie Check First Safety Program with School Resource Officer Rick Jones. This program was introduced to teach children the importance of checking with a trusted adult before going anywhere with anyone and many critical safety awareness skills. Teaches the children to ‘Check First’, say no to ‘not okay’ touches, talk, substances and peer pressure.
FREEDOM MUSICIANS SELECTED FOR COUNTY BAND
The County Band Festival will be held at Ambridge High School on April 9. This year, Leo Kaleugher (12), Tori Loschinskey (10), Janna Kline (12), Charlotte Rywolt (10), Aubrey Boyd (12), Elizabeth Mooney (11), Audrey Mooney (11), Alexander Micon (12), Johnathan Bruce (12) and Sophia Figas (10) were nominated to represent Freedom in the collective concert.
