Springtime by weekday, arctic tundra by weekend

Disappointment shot through Facebook Land as students realized another snowfall wasn’t expected to hit on a weekday, but rather the weekend. Just like last weekend, snow fell on what students perceived to be inconvenient days. “I hate it when it snows Saturday because it gets your hopes up that we won’t have school Monday. Then [the snow] just stops,” Freshman Alex Howland said. So far this school year, there have been no cancellations or two-hour delays. The snow has remained manageable or, for the most part, nonexistent. The winter weather this year greatly differs from last year, especially considering last year’s snowstorm that left over 20 inches of snow and was coined ‘Snowmaggedon.’ Even though students were displeased to not have missed any school due to weather so far, they are still finding different ways to spend their snowy weekend. Senior Lexie Challis “went to Economy Park to sled ride.” Her father even drove Challis and Courtney Busse to the top of the hill after each sled ride. Despite unhappiness caused by the lack of delays and cancellations, FHS students are grateful for the long President’s Day weekend. If school would have been canceled sometime this year due to poor weather, classes would have taken place per usual this Friday. “I don’t like just missing a random day in the middle of the week because you still have to wake up the next day and go to school,” Sophomore Sam Deane said. “On the weekends, you don’t have to worry about that.”
