Student Profile: Jimmy Kappas

A few months ago, Freedom student, James Kappas, received his acceptance letter to William & Jefferson College. The reason this was such a big deal is because he was only a junior. Jimmy agreed to sit down with FHS Press’s Emily Bittner for an interview discussing his plan to enter college one year early. Are you a junior or a senior now? Since I’m graduating early, I’m technically a senior. I felt like a junior until three months ago and now it feels weird, like I know I can’t come back next year. Do you think graduating one year early will benefit you? Absolutely. I get an extra jump on the work force and now I’m not forced to take classes I didn’t want to take. Do you feel like you’re missing out on your “senior year”? Actually that was one of the things I thought about when making my decision, but I decided the benefits outweighed that. Have your friends and teachers been supportive? Yeah, mostly all of them have been. There is only a few people that have said it’s a bad idea and meant it. Is there anything you’re going to miss next year? (laughs) Physics 2.
