What is the purpose of fighting? There may be many answers flowing through your mind, but through mine, I see none. I often hear about many reasons for why people fight. Whether it be over a love interest, a threat or even somebody calling someone a mean name, fights occur. Every time I hear one of those reasons I can’t help but to laugh. Fighting is one of the most ridiculous things you could ever do. I just don’t see the purpose. Now, I’m not trying to be the cheesy person to say “just say no,” but what I am saying is to avoid fights and don’t start one in the first place. In my mind, there is no good reason for a fight, especially in school. Whenever I see a fight in school, there is maybe one punch thrown before they are broken apart and walked down to Dr. Staub’s office. Could you please explain to me how throwing that one hit is worth the suspension and citation you will receive? I just can’t comprehend it. Then there are the people who realize school discipline isn’t worth it and they plan a fight off of school property instead. However, if you fight outside of school and the police get involved, you could face even worse problems. You will be charged with a misdemeanor ranging from disorderly conduct to assault, and you will have to pay a fine for that charge. I’m sure you don’t hundreds of dollars just lying around in between couch cushions; something like that could really set you back. Yet another point of fighting I don’t understand. What I’m saying is: don’t fight. It is really pointless and stupid. Are we still in second grade? Next time something tells you it’s a good idea to punch someone, the only fighting you should do is fighting the urge to cause violence. Just grow up, get over yourself, and enjoy life. You are wasting so much of your short time on Earth by fighting. I don’t expect violence to stop, but it would be nice to see people aware of the stupidity of fighting.
