There isn’t a single class, excluding math, probably, in which we don’t use computers (unless you count calculators). Especially with Freedom being such a technology-based school, these things are necessary almost everyday. So why not invest in your very own laptop? It’s a very wise investment: something you can use to get your work done, store all of your stuff on, and you’d use it on a daily basis. You want the top of the line? I recommend Apple’s MacBook Pro: easy to carry around, small enough to fit in a backpack, and strong enough to last through the torrents of high school. If you’re on a budget, which most of us probably are, you might want to settle for something a little cheaper, such as the Acer Aspire Timeline Notebook. The battery life on that thing is incredible. It’ll definitely get you through the school day without ever having to worry about charge. Being teenagers, music plays a big part in most of our lives, right? So your music player has to be constantly updated- keeping up with your ever-growing collection of music. It has to have it all, including the fun stuff! If you’re a regular iTunes user, you should check out the iPod Touch, the latest and greatest in iTunes productions. This thing’s got it all: a 3.5-inch touch widescreen, 30 hours of battery life, and tons of entertainment, with engaging aps galore. The iPod Touch’s endless gallery of aps will keep you amused for hours. However, another mp3 player that can most certainly compete with the iPod is the Zune. There are five different sizes that these players come in, the largest being a 120GB, holding up to 30,000 songs, 25,000 pictures, or 375 hours of video. And if that’s still not enough music for you, Zune allows you to listen to the radio on the go with its built-in FM tuner. Either way, you’re sure to have a tremendous music experience. Music is not the only thing that plays a major role in teens’ lives, however; another big part is made up by their cell phones. If you were to ask every kid in school what the one thing they take with them everywhere was, the top answer would almost absolutely be their cell phone. It is essential that we, as students, keep ourselves updated on the latest versions of our phones. The most popular phone service, Verizon Wireless, has a few new phones out that people are already beginning to check out. The LG enV3 and the LG enV Touch are what all the hubbub seems to be about these days. Each phone has its own special features: for the enV3, a full keyboard and a larger front screen; for the enV Touch, a full keyboard on the inside and a full-out touch screen on the outside. For AT&T users, the iPhone is, no question, top of the line. With tons of aps, internet access, and oodles of music access, this phone is perfect for almost everyone. For the few lone Sprint users left in the world, the Samsung Instinct seems to be the best way to go. Its touch screen and email capabilities make everyone’s lives easier. Sure, some of these items may cost some of that hard-earned summer-job cash, but isn’t it worth it if it helps you with your school work? Or if it allows you to keep in touch with classmates in the midst of grueling projects? Or if it gets you through late-night study sessions for a huge test the next day? Plus, think about how cool you would look walking down the hall with a belt buckle that doubles as a calculator. Now there’s an investment that should seriously be considered by all of us.
