SHAWNEE ANNOUNCES DEADLINES FOR SENIORS
On Aug. 4, the Shawnee Yearbook sent out an email to the senior class and their guardians detailing deadline dates for portraits and tribute advertisements. The message stated that the senior portrait submission deadline is Oct. 26, and pictures can be submitted to [email protected]. If students choose not to submit a portrait, their school identification photo will be featured in the yearbook instead. Payment and information for tribute advertisements are due Jan. 18. STUDENTS SECURE CLASS OFFICER POSITIONS
During the first three weeks of the academic year, each grade level hosted elections to decide on their class representatives. The freshman class officers are Hannah Metzger (9), Katelyn Vandecar (9), Anna Schomburg (9) and Secretary Madison Capehart (9); junior officers are Anthony Taddeo (11), Landon Palka (11), Troy Reynolds (11) and Sienna Zurynski (11); and senior class officers are Colton Blank (12), Calla Reynolds (12), Caden Beringer (12), and Mackenzie Mohrbacher (12). Information on sophomore officers was not available for time of publication.
GUIDANCE PRESENTS OCTOBER SAT, PSAT DATES
The high school will administer both the SAT and the PSAT in October. The SAT testing date is set for Thursday, Oct. 16, and the PSAT is scheduled for Oct. 3. CAS Calculators and electronics are prohibited for the standardized tests.
DISTRICT OFFERS FREE FINANCIAL AID NIGHT
On Oct. 6, the first free financial aid night will be held in the high school auditorium. An expert from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency will share information on scholarship applications, FAFSA, Federal Student Aid IDs, student loans and etc. A brief Q&A will be held after the presentation. The event is scheduled to start at 5:30p.m.
POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL DATE CHANGES TO OCTOBER
The Powderpuff Football Game, originally set for Sept. 23, was rescheduled to Oct. 15 because of scheduling conflicts. Due to the date change, students are able to register until Sept. 30. Sophomore and junior males can sign up to coach the teams during the event. Those interested in participating can submit forms and the $20.00 payment to Mrs. Sterrett in Room 222.
DRAMA CLUB REINTRODUCES ANNUAL ALUMNI CABARET
Drama Club is hosting the third annual Alumni Cabaret on Oct. 12 in the high school auditorium. The night will feature Ms. Patti Ross and Mr. Mike Maricone as faculty guest emcees. Additionally, homage will be paid during intermission to honor the legacy of Mr. Keith James Kovalic “KK,” a former music teacher at the district. The cabaret has an anticipated start time of 6:00p.m. All proceeds will benefit the district fund for auditorium improvements.
