The World Affairs Club is arranging a four day trip to Toronto, Ontario. They will be leaving at approximately 1 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012. The students will visit locations such as Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a Hindu temple, and Fo Shan Temple of Toronto, a Buddhist Temple. Also on the agenda is seing Niagara Falls up close, first from the Maid of the Mist right in the middle of the falls, and then in the tunnels behind them. Students attending will also explore the White Water Walk: a boardwalk at the world’s wildest stretch of whitewater. Included in the itinerary, students will get to visit the Koffler Centre of the Arts, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Center. Students will gain information about the many diverse forms of art and culture of the world. They will witness the Holocaust, hear stories of the survivors and learn about the history of countries very different from our own. Attendees will see the city of Toronto from the eyes of a bird at the top of the Canadian National Tower, which is 1815.4 feet above the ground. The Tower gives sight-seers a panoramic view of the city and has floors made entirely of glass. There will also be ample time for the students to look for souvenirs at Toronto’s very own Chinatown. Seeing as this expedition is right outside of our borders, all students desiring to go will need to get a passport. According to Ms. Ionta, the trip is estimated to cost $500 per student. The trip is available to all students grades 10 through 12. For any additional information, contact Ms. Ionta.
