The mats are down and the singlets are on; wrestling season is in full swing. With the first major tournament, MAC’s, under their belt the team is ready to face up to whatever challenges that are staring them back in the eyes. Like any tournament, there are always winners and this tournament was no different. The Freedom wrestlers that placed were Heath Nye, Kurt Kitzman, Evan Gibbons, Zeke Stroupe, and Boe Bonzo. Nye, Kitzman and Gibbons all earned fourth place, Stroupe fought for second place, and Bonzo conquered for first place. In terms of the whole team, they took seventh. As you may be wondering, what effects do tournament scores have on the season record? The overall score will not have any effect on the team’s actual record, although what each individual wrestler scores will be reflected in their own personal records. The MAC Tournament isn’t the end for the wrestlers. They have two more coming up in January, one in Burgettstown and the Chartiers Valley Duals.
