Chvrches Review

As a fan of all kinds of music, I always look for new things to listen to. While my favorite music tends to be a lot of the same old things, I tried out a different kind of genre this time. I still don’t know how I feel about it, so bear with me.

Chvrches is a new Scottish band that goes into the genre of “synthpop.” Don’t worry; I’ve never heard of it either. Apparently, synthpop is a type of music that relies mainly on a synthesizer. It has a very electronic sound and is really unique compared to other sounds. However, if you can’t decide if you like that kind of sound, it may take a while to declare yourself a fan. I’m in that same boat.

Chvrches just released their first full-length album, The Bones of What You Believe. It’s definitely something to dance to because of the electronic nature of the songs. To me, this album epitomizes the feeling you get driving around in the summer. The songs are fun and upbeat, and the lead singer is extremely talented.

The Bones of What You Believe includes slower, deep songs such as Tether and faster, as well as upbeat songs like Lies. The diversity of emotions in the album contributes to its ability to attract all kinds of audiences.

This is the kind of album that you’ll either love or hate; there’s no in between. It’s very unique and not like anything else I normally listen to, but it’s definitely worth a try. If you like electronic music, this band will probably intrigue you the most. Even if you don’t, try expanding your horizons and giving Chvrches a try. I’m not exactly sure how much I like this album, but I can foresee them becoming really popular in the future.
