Dialing up a review: Childish Gambino CD in review

Now, let’s clear one thing up: Childish Gambino isn’t just coming out of the ‘Shadows’. They’re not so well known in the rap genre; most people might know Donald Glover for being a comedian on Comedy Central.

Now that I got its status’ out of the way, let’s move on to more important matters, like their CD “Because the internet.” I can honestly say that I enjoyed the music.

Unlike a large percentage of the rap music people listen to in today’s day and age, you can actually understand the words being rapped by the group. When is the last time that you can say that when listening to rap, you could fully understand every single word being said? I can’t remember either.

This CD is unlike any other CD that i’ve heard. When I started listening to it, I wasn’t so sure about it even being classified as rap, and even in some of the songs. Some just don’t sound like the typical “rap music” that people think of. Not only is the background music pretty awesome and interesting, but those sounds—they’re some of the coolest and weirdest I’ve ever heard.

Aside from that, there aren’t any crazy drops, like there are in Dupstep, which is why Childish is unlike any other rap group out there.

I’m not going to lie; I danced the whole time it was playing. The song choices are intriguing, to say the least. In addition, they’re catchy. If you don’t like mainstream music, there’s a chance you’ll like this.

Before you take a gander at this CD, let me warn you first. At first, you might be in for a shock when you actually listen to the lyrics. They can be quite inappropriate at times, soif you have a problem with swearing, this might not be for you. Don’t believe me? Fine, go on with your bad self, and have a listen! Don’t blame me when your little ears hear something they don’t like.

Even with some questionable language choices, I really enjoyed this CD. This is like the homemade macaroni and cheese of not so popular music. For the older folks, take out your hearing aids, and younger kids, skurry on away. This isn’t something that I would recommend for the youngin.
