Fall sports section changes on the way

Many students from Freedom participate in sports. From football to wrestling or volleyball to soccer, many sports teams at FHS seem to have a rivalry with a team from another school. However, some of these rivalries may be ending soon.
Many sports sections are changing in the upcoming seasons. This means that schools we’ve played in the past may no longer be in our section. Some of these changes include the boys’ soccer team moving from the Double A section to the Single A section.
Sophomore Eric Eisenbrown, a member of the boys’ soccer team, is not exactly excited to be changing sections.
“I’m a little disappointed to change sections,” Eisenbrown said. “I mean, we made it to playoffs in division 2 and It was a challenge to play against bigger schools, but it should hopefully be easier next season and we can hopefully go further in the playoffs.”
On the other hand, other athletes look forward to the challenge of playing against new teams.
Though as of now the boys’ soccer team is the only team to switch divisions for Freedom, other sports teams might be facing new opponents next year, like Freedom’s golf team. Next season, the golf team will no longer have Quigley in their section, but Beaver instead.
Many winter sports divisions may be changing in the future, but nothing is official yet.
“I’m supportive of the section changes. There’s not that many changes yet. However, there could be more significant changes with the winter sports, but that has yet to be determined,” Athletic Director John Rosa said.
