Americans hope it’s not a reflection of what the election has to offer

Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) and President Donald Trump (R) continue to draw contrast between their positions on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, health care and climate change among other issues, as the 2020 presidential campaign enters its final week.

As the election grows closer, debates have been a big topic of discussion by officials and civilians alike. Though Pennsylvania is a swing state, the areas around Freedom tend to lean right. There has only been one debate so far but that hasn’t stopped Twitter users from lashing out about both candidates’ behavior.

One user went as far as saying, “That debate was a disgrace.”

Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden were criticized for their constant interruption of the moderator. There was a lot of confusion following the candidates debate. But there were a couple specific moments that became the topic of discussion. When president Donald Trump was asked to denounce racism and white supremacy, he refused to comment. He did, however, bring up the Proud Boys.

“Stand back and stand by,” Trump said.

This sparks much controversy, especially when he claimed to have not known about the Proud Boys. That doesn’t mean Joe Biden is completely innocent either. He told Donald Trump to shut up after calling him a clown.

Now, both candidates have had controversy attached to their names since the start.  Both President Trump and Vice president Biden have been accused of inappropriate contact with people, as well as participating in illegal activities behind the scenes. For many American’s they’re facing a tough decision; who’s the better candidate? Though there seems to be a clear answer, it’s not so simple for others who see potential in both. There has been a decreasing number of Trump supporters since some of his latest statements. He lost many voters once he made a comment degrading veterans.

There has also been some controversy over Biden’s past of racial segregation. At the beginning of this year, Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris called him out on his previous support in segregating students. Since this time though, Harris has spoken highly of Biden.

Despite these comments and allegations, there are signs supporting Trump lining main-street. Though, there seems to be more Trump signs than Biden. This may be due to the previous support of the current president.

In the end of the debate, neither side had really gained anything beneficial. Both parties were completely embarrassed over the debate. Because of this, they have now come up with plans that will be set into action if either candidate speaks over the other. Now remember, this election is one of the most important in decades, our fate lies in your vote.
