On Wednesday May 15, some of the cast and crew of Fiddler on the Roof went to Geneva College for the Henry Mancini Musical Awards.
Fiddler on the Roof scored Freedom Drama Club twelve Mancini nominations: Outstanding Sets and Scenery, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Outstanding Costumes, Outstanding Student Orchestra, Out-standing Dance Performance, Out-standing Vocal Ensemble and Out-standing Overall Performance.

Schools from all over Beaver County perform a scene from their musical that showed what they had been nominated for. Freedom per-formed the “dream scene” and even incorporated some of the props that were used during the show.
Freedom won six out of twelve possible awards for Fiddler on the Roof: Outstanding Technical Achievement, Outstanding Student Orchestra, Out-standing Vocal Ensemble, Out-standing Sets and Scenery, Out-standing Male in a Leading Role and Best Show Overall.
Malinak, who played Tevye, was nominated for the Jimmy Awards, also known as the National High School Musical Theater Awards. “I get to represent the Mancini Awards in New York,” Malinak said, “We are trained by professional broadway ac-tors and compete for the best high school actor.
Only two people from Beaver County were chosen for the Jimmy Award nomination; one girl and one boy. Students from all over the coun-try have been nominated and will be participating in NHSMTA’s.
