Freedom Welcomes New Teachers

Every year at FHS, we get more and more advanced. Along with those new advancements, we get new teachers. This year three new teachers joined the staff to help make our school even more select. These teachers include Mr. Short, Miss Picciotto, Miss Gudzon and Miss Clautier. Mr. Short is replacing Mrs.Riggotti this year as the new art teacher. Mr. Short attended West AlleghenyHigh School where he played football and baseball. His favorite subjects in school were lunch and history coming in as a close second. After graduating from high school he went on to Geneva College. While attending Geneva for youth ministry, he was taking classes at the ArtInstitute of Pittsburgh. He always had a passion for art; his art teacher in high school especially noticed that and pushed him to pursue some sort of career in it. Another new addition to the team of teachers is Miss Picciotto. She is teaching science classes. She went to Kennedy Catholic HighSchool in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. During her high school years, Miss Picciottoplayed tennis, basketball, softball, and she was on the school dance team. Her favorite subjects were Science and Biology because she got to dissect things. In her spare time she enjoys jogging, spending time with her family or playing with her yorkie, Mojo. Miss Picciotto listens to a lot of music and always has her iPod on her. Miss Gudzon is another new teacher here. One reason why she loves teaching Spanish here so far is because she also attended Freedom. One of her most inspirational teachers was Mr. Wargo. She explains him as a “very wonderful teacher.” Her favorite subject in high school was Spanish; she loved it from her very first day and took all four years of it. In high school she went to Spain with her class and Mr. Bohen, and this summer Miss Gudzon went to Costa Rica. After high school she attended Slippery Rock University. Before coming to teach at Freedom she taught in Hopewell for three years and in Oakland Catholic for oneyear. In her free time she loves to play piano, go shopping and hang out withher friends. The newest addition to the staff here at Freedom high school is Miss Calutier. She wants to bring excitment to the French program here by showing her students new and fun ways of learning the language she loves. Ms. Calutier attended Mount Lebenon High school where she wasin all their theater productions, her favorite role was the Queen of Heartsfrom Alice In Wonderland.
