Grinds my Gears

One of the last things I come to school to do is come across people making out in the hallways. If I wanted to see this type of scene, I would go home and watch a romantic comedy. Unfortunately for me and everyone else in at FHS, we see this daily. Although public displays of affection are not specified in the student/parent handbook, there is a rule stating that if it is not appropriate, it is not permitted. Everyone’s opinions can vary on what is appropriate and what is not. There are some things you can do with your significant other that are appropriate for a school setting. Holding hands is okay, a peck on the cheek or forehead is nice, a hug or even an innocent little kiss isn’t so bad. Even though those are okay, quite a number of couples seem to think these are boring things to do in a relationship. Every day, after every class, I see at least two couples kissing or touching each other. I don’t care who you are, that’s just disgusting. First of all, no one at FHS wants to watch you kiss your boyfriend or girlfriend in between every class. Second of all, there is only one reason that I can think of when it comes to why couples do this: attention. Why do girls or guys feel the need to show everyone what they do with their boyfriend or girlfriend? Many couples think it’s “cool” to show everyone what they are willing to do in public, but no one watching thinks so. Lastly, what couples do together should stay behind closed doors. If you have at least some respect for yourselves, stop selling your relationships in the halls. I’ve been dating someone for a year and a half, and we don’t need to constantly have our hands on each other’s body somewhere. Seriously, have some self control because it is ridiculous. For example, one time I was walking down the hall and this couple was making out. One of them actually had their eyes open watching the people walk past them. What the heck is that, and why do you feel it’s necessary? What does that accomplish? I don’t understand, and I never hope to. I can’t decide which is worse, couples kissing or the fact that they have a complete disregard for other’s that are forced to walk past them. I don’t even know what to say besides stop. Absolutely no one wants to watch you do so. All I want to do is walk through the hallway in our school without feeling like I’m watching some weird type of PG-13 movie. Believe me; I’m not flying solo on this one.
