Mr. Prigorac

This year Freedom lucked out when it came to Mr. Josh Prigorac. Although he is happy at Freedom, his other career preference would be flying planes in the air force. But do not expect him to be walking around with a parachute. No, Freedom is not getting a flight instructor, but a new special education teacher. He wakes up and puts on a suit and tie and leaves the parachute at the door so he can complete his teaching duties at Freedom. Mr. Prigorac is a former student of Hopewell High School and a graduate from Slippery Rock University with a degree in elementary education. Before his arrival to Freedom, Mr. Prigorac was a substitute teacher at Hopewell and Montour School Districts. Though he has a degree in elementary education, his mom – a special education teacher working at Hopewell – is the one who inspired him to become a special education teacher. Mr.Prigorac said he wasn’t sure, at first, if he would like working with high school students, but now he enjoys it. He helps out mostly in math classes but he also teaches a studies skills class. For the short time that Mr. Prigorac has been at Freedom, he feels that he has adjusted well. “I like the faculty; the kids have been fun so far…I like the people that I work with,” he said. His favorite part about teaching is working with the students. “I like helping them learn and figure things out.” When Mr. Prigorac is not helping students at school, he likes to play basketball. Often times he can even be seen in the gym, playing basketball with Mr.Summer’s gym classes. “I love the hoops,” he said. Mr. Prigorac said he enjoys everything about his job but at the end of the day his main goal, is“having my students succeed; that’s all I really care about.”
