High School rewards February Student of the Month 

At the school board meeting on February 2, Mr. Steven Mott awarded 8 students with student of the month for the month of February. The theme this month was “Kindness”. The recipients are as follows, 9th Grade Calla Reynolds and Charles Brenckle, 10th Grade Olivia Henderson and Dekota Roberts, 11th grade Emma Falk and Steffan Paganie, and 12th Grade Edna Arrendondo and Trent McCray.  

 

2023 Shakespeare Competition 

Students in Ms. Heather Giammaria’s Performing Arts class went to the Pittsburgh Public Theatre on Feb. 9 to compete in the annual Shakespeare Monolauge and Scene competition. At the competition, all students must memorize and perform one piece of Shakespearean work. 

 

2 seniors participate in PMEA District Band

Seniors Connor Tavern and Brigette Richard went to Slippery Rock University Feb 9-11 for the PMEA District Band festival. At the festival, students from multiple school districts get together and perform different styles of concert band music. Also at the festival, students get the chance to audition for the PMEA regional festival. 

 

6 students head to Hershey Lodge to compete in DECA state competition

From Feb 22-24, 6 students from Freedoms DECA chapter headed to Hershey Lodge to compete for the state competition. Along with advisors Mr. Cole Eged and Ms. Miranda Lasher, students spent several days competing, learning about business, and meeting other students from around the state in the 3 day trip.
