NHS canned food drive is a success

NHS holds a canned food drive from Nov. 9 to Nov. 23

National Honor Society (NHS) jumpstarts the time of giving by hosting a food drive from Nov. 9 to Nov. 23. This time around, NHS has decided to change who will receive the donations.

“This year, we are having the food drive for actual families in our community which is completely different from previous years,” Senior Brianna Frashure said.

In 2014, NHS donated all canned food raised to Baden United Methodist Church. This change was made when NHS realized how many families are in need within the community.

In order to encourage people to participate, NHS is putting each red and white day block one classes against each other. They are pushing each class to get the most canned food as possible.Whichever class wins will receive a doughnut party.

NHS is asking for any non-perishable foods. Acceptable items can range from canned corn to cereal. Any donation that is made will help NHS reach their goal and would make it possible for them to help families in need.

“We need as much food as people are willing to give,” Mrs. KC Hastings said.

This is the only food drive NHS plans on doing this year, so they are asking for the FASD community to help pitch in now.
