That is basically the point of a study hall, to studyand do homework. Say a student is doing their homework, and all of the sudden they getstuck. However now to go see a teacher for help, students must get a passbefore actually going to study hall. So unless they looked at the homework before hand, which speaking fromexperience as a student isn’t often, then they would have no way of going tothat teacher for help. How are student supposed to learn and understand the material if they can’teven figure out the homework? Most would agree that understanding your homeworkis better than just scribbling down the wrong answer because you don’tunderstand. In the past students were allowed to leave a study hall to go see ateacher, as long as they asked. But now they just can’t, and I’m sure this willcause major problems for students, myself included. So what should be done about this? Obviously rebellion is not the rightanswer. You should always listen to your teachers. Maybe you could ask to callthe teacher, so as long as that teacher has a planning period at that time. The school could also take another route as well. Instead of not lettingstudents in the hall at all, maybe they could incorporate a hall monitor typeof system. That way if a student asks to go see a teacher, but really justwants to roam the hall ways, they will be caught and disciplined respectively. It’s understandable that the school doesn’t want the students to roam thehalls and disrupt classes, but that doesn’t mean the kids who really do needhelp should be hindered. Every student deserves the chance to get help when they need it, but do notbreak the rules! I dislike it when people don’t get the proper education thatthey deserve because somebody just wanted to roam the halls and disruptclasses. So if you follow the rules, you will be rewarded with a little more freedom.
