Ever hear about a male beauty pageant at Freedom? That, everyone, is Freedom’s “Mr. FHS.” This contest is for Freedom male seniors only. Currently, the event is supposed to take place on May seventh, but is subject to change. The hosts for this year’s “pageant” will be senior class president Nolan Rider and fellow senior Bryan McSorley. All funds will go towards the senior class for project graduation and the senior class trip. The seniors had a class meeting where they could sign up to be a part of the show, and this year’s Mr. FHS contestants (tentatively) are: Danny O’Leary, Zack Burns, Adam Teets, Jeremy Herzog, Joe Fubio, Ben Bates, Tom Paranuik, and Seth Shidemantle. Along with senior class sponsor Ms. Ross, class officers Nolan Rider, Chris Rooney, Lexie Javens, and Lauren Spazk are running the show. The contestants will have a series of different categories where they will be judged by a teacher panel. For even more entertainment there will be bands playing such as Freedom’s own, “Staff Infection”. Anyone can attend Mr. FHS; there will be a small school assembly promoting it the day of. After talking to senior class sponsor Miss Ross, it was clear that she feels that this year’s Mr. FHS will be successful. Each contestant will have different categories to compete in such as a poise, talent, and an interview section. The winners of the competition will take their winnings and give them to a charity of his choice. The senior class officers are hoping to get a panel of 3 judges, hopefully teachers. The winner will also be rewarded with a trophy stating he is Mr. FHS. Tickets will be sold at the door and pre-sold at a price which has yet to be released. They are hoping that this will become a new tradition here at FHS and will happen for many years to come.
