Win, Win, and Win

The wrestling team is planning to do what they do best this season: win. Senior Kurt Kitzman is prepared and looking forward to the season. He is most excited about hopefully winning individually. He will also miss winning matches as a team. “I’m going to miss the entire experience,” Kitzman said. This year, Freedom’s wrestling team will have a new assistant coach. James Martz, who will be helping out Head Coach Jim Covert this season. Junior Lane Ward feels the team should do fairly well this year. “We lost some solid wrestlers last year. We need more people to come out for the team who are interested in being apart of a winning program.” Senior Boe Bonzo hopes to make the playoffs again this year, a goal that has been accomplished by the team for the past two seasons. He also wishes to place top five in the state. This is the last year of his high school wrestling career. “I’ll miss going out to eat after matches,” Bonzo said. The team will start off its season with a scrimmage at Moon Nov. 24. The regular season will begin with a Chartiers Houston Tournament on Dec. 7.
