Women ‘leap’ing to propose

PROPOSING IS A MAN’S JOB:
As people living in 2016, we are immersed in change. Technology is revolutionizing every aspect of our daily lives, most remarkably uprooting face to face communication in return for a 140 character or less tweet or a text with an emoji thoughtfully placed at the end. Children are learning more than ever, politicians are trying desperately to give the answers to the ever-changing issues and social media sites are becoming a part of the daily routine for most people. In all of the chaos, one thing remains unchanging: marriage.
Marriage is an ancient institution dating back before recorded history, and is a tradition and value that continues on today. The proposal is a much-anticipated and critical event to getting married, and it is custom for the man to get on one knee and promise his eternal love and loyalty to woman as he presents her with a ring. Of course, it is then up for the woman to consider the question and give her answer as the man nervously awaits her response. A proposal is an exciting event in any person’s life, and usually includes the man scattering to find creative and romantic ways to ask the question to the person he chooses, to the person he deems worthy. The woman is almost always surprised by the event, though she may have her suspicions leading up to it.
With the tradition being so romantic and pure, there should be no need to change it. Women are stereotypically overly-romantic, packing into theatres to see the latest romantic comedy and sobbing at a sappy confession of love in a book. Women usually are the first to plan dates and spend hours prepping their looks and selecting the perfect outfit. Men, on the other hand, consider themselves date-ready after doing nothing more than brushing their teeth and swiping on deodorant. It is a beautiful thought to imagine the man, for once, selecting the perfect spot, grooming himself properly and nervously anticipating the night. The man anxiously prepares himself to ask the woman the question, but he spends a ridiculous amount of money on a ring he selects as beautiful enough to be worn by his potential bride for the rest of her life.
Not only is it enchantingly romantic when a man goes as far to prepare the date, buy a ring and get down on one knee to propose his love for his girlfriend, but it is charming to think what went on in his mind to get him to that point. As relationships continue to change with the time around us, it would be nice for it to be certain that the man will propose when the time is right. It should continue to be customary for a man to propose to a woman because it is usually the woman putting the most effort into the relationship to begin with.
